Brant offers 12-part weekly courses as well as standalone workshops.

You can host Brant live in California (Sacramento & San Joaquin counties) or via virtual classroom.

WORKSHOPS -- 12 Week Semester

Movie Magic: Animation Basics
Perfect for elementary students with a passion for creating. This class explores animation technology in historical order: zoetrope, celluloid, rotoscope, multiplane, xerox, and more! Students will also experiment with different forms of stop-motion.
Age: Grades 3 – 6
Size: 5 – 20 students
Length: 1 hour


Animator: Art and Film
Indulge the creative STEM in you! Discover and develop skills in storyboarding, character design, and animation. This exciting class introduces students to key art and communication skills used in the
entertainment industries and culminates with a final portfolio!
Age: Grades 9 – 12
Size: 5 - 20 students
Length: 1 hour 30 minutes


Animator: STUDIO
Create an animated short film with a group while playing different studio roles! Requires prior or concurrent enrollment in the high school animation class.
Age: Grades 9 – 12
Size: 5 - 20 students
Length: 1 hour 30 minutes


Drawing Fundamentals
Being a good artist doesn't have to be a mystery! Learn how to improve your observation and imagination so you can create art like you always wanted to. Topics include tools, technique, form, shape, rendering, perspective, life drawing, and sketching.
Age: Beginner: Grades 3 – 8
Intermediate: Grades 9 – 12
Size: 5 – 20 students per age bracket
Length: 1 hour


Paper Engineering: The Art of Pop-up Books
Science and art, English and math all collide as students tinker with paper creations and make their own pop-up books just like children's book creators and NASA scientists! Develop writing strategies and a critical eye while learning narrative principles. Discover fun hands-on principles of geometry, fractals, tessellation, ratios, measuring through storytelling, creative compositions, and art appreciation.
Age: Beginner: Grades 2 – 8 Outer Space Theme
Intermediate: Grades 9 – 12 Around the World Theme
Size: 5 - 20 students per age bracket
Length: 1 hour


Printmaking
Make fun and beautiful artwork using different printmaking techniques like Monoprint, Brayer, Block, and Silkscreen to name a few! Developing fine motor skills, students will explore new approaches to building up color, shape, and texture.

Intermediate: Grades 7 – 12

Composition Tricks in Art and Film
How professional artists choose what to draw in the frame. Students will learn about gestalt and visual design; they will also analyze professional artwork with principles learned in class.

History of Animation
Technology and Technique
From early forays in black and white to realistic CGI, students will learn about different artistic approaches and experiment with film technologies.

Storyboarding
If you've watched deleted scenes of your favorite animated film, you've already seen storyboards in action!  Want to learn the tricks of the trade?  Brant Moon is a professional Storyboard Artist with over 10 years of experience.  Open to age 14 and up.
